Lobkowiczký palác (Lobkowicz Palace), located at the southern edge of Prague Castle, next to the Rosenberg Palace, is the only privately owned building in the entire castle complex. This impressive Baroque palace is owned by the historic Lobkowicz family.

The palace’s history is marked by dramatic events—during the Nazi occupation and the communist era, the Lobkowicz family’s property, including this palace, was confiscated twice. In 2002, it was returned to the Lobkowicz family through restitution, and by 2007 it was fully reopened to the public as a museum. Today, the palace offers a unique journey through Czech and European history, told through the stories and treasures of the Lobkowicz family.

On the first floor, you’ll find the original Chapel of St. Wenceslas and two beautifully preserved 17th-century halls. The second floor houses the renowned Lobkowicz Collections, one of the oldest, largest, and most valuable private art collections in Europe. Some artifacts are over two thousand years old. Highlights include paintings by Bruegel, Canaletto, and Velázquez, as well as rare musical manuscripts with handwritten notes by Mozart and Beethoven.

Visitors are guided through the museum by an audio guide available in 11 languages, included in the ticket price. There’s also a special Prague Panorama audio tour that introduces the city’s landmarks visible from the palace’s private terrace in under thirty minutes.

Experience the magic of classical music in the stunning Baroque Concert Hall of Lobkowicz Palace, adorned with exquisite 17th-century frescoes. Daily 60-minute concerts feature masterpieces by legendary composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvořák, and Smetana, performed by an accomplished trio of flute, violin, and piano. For an extra treat, enjoy piano recitals showcasing masterpieces by the world’s greatest composers, available every Wednesday and Saturday. This unique musical experience brings the palace’s historic setting to life in the heart of Prague Castle.

💡 Top Tip 💡

For a break, enjoy fine dining and coffee at the palace’s restaurant and café, which offers seasonal delicacies, desserts, and select wines from the Lobkowicz vineyards. The terrace provides one of the best panoramic views of Prague, while the Renaissance courtyard and elegant interiors offer a memorable setting for your visit.
