Národní muzeum (National Museum), dominating the top of Wenceslas Square, is one of Prague’s most iconic landmarks. Housed in a stunning Neo-Renaissance building completed in 1891, it recently underwent a major renovation that beautifully restored its historic interiors while adding modern exhibition spaces.

The museum is perfect for those curious about Czech history, nature, and culture. Permanent exhibitions include fascinating collections of fossils, minerals, and stuffed animals, as well as key moments in Czech history. Don’t miss the dramatic hall under the glass dome—it’s a highlight in itself.

A connecting tunnel links the historic building to the modern New Building across the street. This structure has a story of its own—it once served as the Federal Assembly, the parliament of communist Czechoslovakia, and later became the headquarters of Radio Free Europe. Today, it hosts temporary exhibitions and events, expanding the museum’s cultural reach.

Whether you're into natural science or national history, this is an easy and enriching stop right in the heart of the city.
